If the heart has rhythm disturbances. The German Heart Foundation organizes events on cardiovascular diseases every November

The German Heart Foundation organizes events on cardiovascular diseases every November. The occasion of this year's information event is the topic of cardiac arrhythmias.

Almost everyone knows cardiac arrhythmias. If there are no previous illnesses, such rhythm disorders are also called "heart stumbling" (palpitations). Such cardiac arrhythmias are mostly without significant findings and are caused by so-called extra beats of the heart. Many cardiac arrhythmias are inherently harmless and normal, while others can indicate a serious heart condition. Therefore, arrhythmias of the heart should always be clarified by a specialist to rule out serious diseases.

The heart specialists of the Schwetzingen GRN Clinic want to provide detailed information about dangers, symptoms and possible illness on Wednesday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m. with the support of the self-help group "Heart Diseases". Prof. Dr. Bernd Waldecker, chief physician of the internal medicine department I. In his lecture "Heart out of rhythm" the doctor will inform interested parties about the complex topic of rhythm disorders and answer questions.

Dr. Bernd Waldecker will explain in his presentation about cardiac arrhythmias, their causes, symptoms, consequences and treatment options. The doctor will first report on the slow heartbeat. In the following, Waldecker reports on the pre-ventricular fibrillation, which is extremely uncomfortable for patients, as well as on extra strokes, which can also be extremely dangerous. In the second part, the cardiac specialist will report on possible medical treatments such as the implementation of a pacemaker or a defibrillator. Another focus is on new drugs that thin the blood. Finally, valuable information is given on the possibilities of resuscitation by laypeople with publicly available electrode defibrillation devices.

Afterwards, visitors to the event have the opportunity to ask individual questions and learn about the work of the self-help group “Heart Diseases”. The event takes place in Schwetzingen, at Bodelschwinghstraße 10 and starts on November 10th at 6:00 p.m. Registration for the "Heart from the Clock" event is not necessary.

Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in Germany. Due to an unhealthy lifestyle, too little exercise and too much stress, more and more people are suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Timely countermeasures, for example through exercise and a wholesome, healthy diet, can reduce the risk of high blood pressure or heart attack. (sb, Nov 6, 2010)
